LOTTIE’S WISH

Lottie Rankin and her Granny Val were going to the park to see Lottie’s best pal,
And there on a post beside the park gate, was Harry the flea who’s Lottie’s best mate.
Now Harry the flea just jumped in the air, he sat on her shoulder and nuzzled her hair,
A flea on your shoulder will make people stare, but Lottie loved Harry so she didn’t care.
So Lottie and Harry played on the swings in the park, with Harry flying loops until it began to grow dark.
Granny Val was sitting with a book to be read, then she told Lottie it was time for tea, homework then bed.
Before they left Harry spoke in Lottie’s ear, sometimes a flea is quite hard to hear,
It was only a whisper but she heard what he said, that he’d come with his friends when she went to bed.
And there sure enough that very same night Tom, Dick, Harry and Tidy were there in plain sight,
There at her window they were all waving together, so she opened the window and leaned out for a blether.
Now Lottie thought this was a really good chance, to tell them crisp bags could buy an “AIR AMBULANCE”,
So that’s what they did for the rest of the night, they gathered every crisp bag that came into sight.
They put thousands of bags in a sack by her door, not finishing their work until a quarter to four,
In the morning Lottie took the sack with her to school, her teacher and pals were amazed it was full.
After a long time collecting the Air Ambulance appeared, when it swooped down to land the children all cheered,
The pilot and doctor gave the school a round of applause, for the work they had done to raise funds for the cause.
Lottie asked Granny Val if they could go to the park, as she had to see Tom, Dick, Tidy and Harry before it got dark,
The dinner ladies at school gave Lottie something to take, to say thanks for their efforts they had baked them a cake.
And that once again is where this story ends, with Lottie and Granny Val eating cake with their friends!!!!!!!!!
