Hi my names John (Jock to most)

I left school at fifteen years of age with no qualifications or scholastic intent!

I started as an apprentice bricklayer shortly afterward and have continued to work in the building trade for forty seven years.( I guess we were compatible !) For the last thirty five years I have headed our small but reasonably successful family building company.

I am a long time rugby player and supporter of the sport and a keen touring cyclist. (I like to go see stuff on a bike!!)

I have always written short poems and ditties for family and friends on special occasions but have recently found the time and head space to write more seriously??

My first paid commission being “THE BRUICHLADDIE” written after a distillery tour , which the distillery then posted on their face book page and rewarded me with a bottle of single malt!!!!

“BOB ME AND THE METAL KNEE” was the result of a cycle through Spain and the reaction to my bloggy thing! Which made me think that some money could be raised for a good cause, so it’s out there!!!

“TIDY MULGREW” was written some ten years ago for the children of friends at Christmas and despite their encouragement to publish I declined, but the story is as relevant today as it was then!

“MIGHTY MIDGE McKECHNIE” is just great fun!! As with “TIDY” suspend belief and enjoy some cracking Scottish fun with our three heroes/hooligans!!

Poetry can be inspiring, motivational, emotional, serious or laugh out loud!! Please enjoy the stuff on this site and I’ll keep it coming.
